dermatan sulphate

dermatan sulphate
Glycosaminoglycan (15-40 kD) typical of extracellular matrix of skin, blood vessels and heart. Repeating units of D-glucuronic acid-N-acetyl-D-galactosamine or L-iduronic acid-N-acetyl-D-galactosamine with 1-2 sulphates per unit. Broken down by L-iduronidase, but accumulates intra-lysosomally in Hurler\'s disease and Hunter syndrome.
